Following weeks of anticipation and teasers from Activision and Tony Hawk, the official announcement has been made: Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is set to launch on July 11. Iron Galaxy Studios has completely remade the classic skateboarding games from scratch to create an updated version. The remake includes all the original content, as well as cross-platform online multiplayer for up to eight players. According to Activision, the game picks up where Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 left off, although it remains unclear whether it will also feature local multiplayer like its predecessor.
The new game was developed by a different studio than the one that remade the first two games, despite the positive reception of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2. Previously, Tony Hawk revealed that Vicarious Visions, the studio behind the first remake, was initially planned to work on the third and fourth installments as well. However, this plan was scrapped after the studio was absorbed into Blizzard. The new game will feature new skaters, tricks, and brand-new parks, including legendary skaters and newer names like two-time Olympic champion Yuto Horigome, although Bam Margera is noticeably absent from the roster.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 will be available on a range of platforms, including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. For PC users, the game can be purchased through Steam, Battle.net, and the Microsoft Store. Additionally, Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers will have access to the game at launch through the game streaming service. Pre-orders are available starting today, and those who pre-order will gain access to the Foundry Demo in June. The Digital Deluxe and Collector’s Editions, which offer extra content and a full-size Birdhouse skateboard deck with a printed Tony Hawk autograph, respectively, can be pre-ordered for early access on July 8.
