Google Arts & Culture brings together engineers and artists in residence to work on innovative AI projects, aiming to connect you with culture in a more engaging, educational, and entertaining manner. Below are some of their latest experiments for you to explore.
Hotspots
For many years, Google Arts & Culture has been using the Art Camera, a specially designed camera, to digitize art collections in ultra-high resolution. This technology captures “gigapixel” images, consisting of over one billion pixels, which unveil details that are not visible to the naked eye.
Leveraging the analytical capabilities of Gemini, the new Hotspots feature pinpoints key areas of interest directly on the image of a cultural artifact. These points are revealed through interactive dots overlaid on the image, allowing you to tap and discover hidden details and intriguing facts about a specific part of the artwork.
