It’s not uncommon for people to still refer to X by its previous name, Twitter. In fact, even the platform’s owner, Elon Musk, occasionally slips up and calls it Twitter, despite having changed its name to X.
Musk recently made a statement on X, saying, “Twitter added far more features with fewer people,” in a post on Monday.

Musk’s comment was in response to another account that commended DOGE, the advisory body on government efficiency he leads, for its efforts to reduce the federal workforce. Over the weekend, Musk instructed federal employees to submit their work accomplishments from the previous week by Monday or face the risk of losing their jobs. However, a government official later informed federal employees that those performance reports were optional.
The account Musk responded to stated, “It worked for Twitter.”
This is not the first instance of Musk referring to X by its former name, Twitter, and it’s likely not the last time he will do so.
