For enthusiasts of the BBC and the Google TV Streamer, today marks a significant milestone. After nearly six months since its launch by Google, the BBC iPlayer is now available on the streaming platform, as 9to5Google reports. The certification of Google’s TV Streamer for use with BBC iPlayer was completed back in November 2024.

The TV streamer’s Channels tab now includes BBC One and BBC Two, and BBC iPlayer has been added to the Google Play Store with a new option for download. Anyone with a TV license in the UK can use BBC iPlayer to watch their favorite shows and movies live, on-demand, or downloaded to their device. Previously, it was already available for use on Google TV and Android TV.

Google introduced its TV Streamer in September, serving as a replacement for the Chromecast line. Priced at $100, it features a smart home panel that allows users to view and control devices like lights, thermostats, and doorbell cameras.
