Google is taking steps to enhance the Android Auto experience by introducing the ability to play select Android games on car displays. However, a recent report reveals that the requirements for playing games are not as expected.

Android Auto now allows users to play a limited selection of Android games directly on their car’s display, but only when the vehicle is parked. The Android Auto 14.1 beta update, released last week, brought this game integration feature. Nevertheless, it has been discovered that this version is not necessary to play compatible games on Android Auto.

According to reports from 9To5Google, the games were found to be playable on the current stable Android Auto 14 version. Google states that Android Auto works seamlessly with compatible apps and games, but the only requirement is that the smartphone must be running Android 15 or a higher version.

Android Auto will only permit users to play certain selected games on their car’s display when the vehicle is completely stationary.

Google is also working on improving Android Auto functionality. A recent report indicates that Gemini has started replacing Google Assistant on Android Auto, removing the mic icon in the process. With the Android Auto 14 stable update now widely available to all users, it is anticipated that more useful features will be added to Google’s smart driving companion.
