EA Unveils Battlefield Early Access Program: Battlefield Labs
Electronic Arts (EA) has announced a new early access program for its popular Battlefield series, dubbed Battlefield Labs. The program will allow fans to test in-development content before the game’s official release.
Battlefield Labs: A New Early Access Program
Battlefield Labs is designed to give fans a taste of the next Battlefield game before it launches. The program will allow developers to test concepts and experiences, and gather feedback from players. According to a press release, the program is a critical part of the game’s development process.
What to Expect from Battlefield Labs
Participants in Battlefield Labs will be under non-disclosure agreement (NDA) and will test almost everything in the game, including:
- Core combat and destruction
- Weapons, vehicles, and gadgets
- Maps, modes, and squad play
EA’s Similar Playtesting Program for Skate
EA is running a similar playtesting program for the next Skate game, dubbed "Skate Insiders." The program will allow fans to test the game ahead of its early access release in 2025.
Battlefield Development
The next Battlefield game is currently being developed by a collection of EA studios under the umbrella of "Battlefield Studios," including DICE, Criterion, Ripple Effect, and Motive. The game will feature a single-player campaign, a notable omission from multiplayer-only Battlefield 2042.
How to Participate in Battlefield Labs
You can sign up to participate in Battlefield Labs on EA’s website if you’re in Europe or North America. The test will be limited to a few thousand participants to start, but the company plans on expanding the program to other regions and players in the future. Even if you’re not playing the early access version of the game, EA says you’ll also be able to track Battlefield’s development through work-in-progress public updates and the game’s Discord.
