Users Report Widespread Issues with X Due to Data Center Outage
Introduction
Users of the social media platform X experienced difficulties accessing the site today, with over 5,000 individuals reporting issues as of 4 PM ET, according to DownDetector reports. The issue stems from a data center outage, as confirmed by X’s official Engineering account.
Statement from X’s Engineering Account
The Engineering account acknowledged the issue, stating, "X is aware some of our users are experiencing performance issues on the platform today. We are experiencing a data center outage and the team is actively working to remediate the issue." This incident occurs after the platform experienced a major outage in March 2025. At that time, X CEO Elon Musk attributed the outage to a "massive cyberattack." However, security researchers later suggested that it was due to poor security on X’s part, making the company’s servers vulnerable to attack.
