World, a prominent biometric ID company known for its innovative Orb devices that utilize eyeball-scanning technology, has announced a series of strategic partnerships at a recent event. These collaborations are designed to drive user sign-ups and demonstrate the diverse applications of its technology.
Notably, World is collaborating with Match Group, a leading conglomerate in the dating app industry, to verify the identities of Tinder users in Japan. Additionally, through partnerships with Kalshi and the decentralized lending platform Morpho, customers will be able to sign in using their IDs registered with World. Furthermore, World plans to team up with Visa to introduce The World Card, a novel card that enables users to spend digital assets at any location where Visa is accepted.

Since its inception in 2019, World, developed by the San Francisco- and Berlin-based company Tools for Humanity, has secured hundreds of millions of dollars in venture capital and created digital IDs for millions of users. However, the company has yet to achieve mainstream acceptance, partly due to its complex approach to ID verification.
Through these new partnerships, World aims to expand its reach to a broader audience, including those who may not have previously considered using eyeball-scanning technology to verify their identity.
The World Card is a particularly noteworthy project among the new initiatives. Scheduled to launch in the U.S. later this year, it will be connected to the World App, enabling users to conduct transactions using cryptocurrencies. The card will automatically exchange crypto for fiat currency when necessary and may offer rewards for specific AI subscriptions and services.
