Fitness technology company Whoop has introduced two new wearable devices, marking its first product launch in four years. The Whoop 5.0 and Whoop MG are the company’s latest offerings, both of which require a subscription to access their features. It’s worth noting that Whoop bands are not available for purchase as standalone devices, and a membership is necessary to unlock their full potential.

The Whoop 5.0 and Whoop MG are both screenless, straightforward wearables that boast an estimated 14-day battery life and are 10 times more power-efficient than their predecessor, the Whoop 4.0. These new devices are also smaller and designed to be worn 24/7, thanks to their always-on sensors. The primary difference between the two models lies in the Whoop MG’s medical-grade ECG capabilities and daily blood pressure readings.

The level of functionality you can expect from your Whoop wearable depends on both the model you choose and the membership plan you select. The entry-level “One” tier, priced at $199 per year, provides “professional-grade fitness insights” that include fundamental fitness tracker features such as sleep tracking, step count, heart rate zones, and hormonal insights for women. This plan comes with the Whoop 5.0, a basic charger, and a CoreKnit band.

Upgrading to the $239 “Peak” tier grants you access to all the features included in the Whoop One plan, as well as real-time stress monitoring and the new Healthspan metric. This metric assesses your long-term health prospects by measuring your Whoop Age and Pace of Aging, offering “guided insights and actionable recommendations” accordingly.

The premium “Life” tier, exclusive to Whoop MG users, is priced at $359 per year. With this tier, you can expect daily blood pressure insights, ECG readings, and irregular heart rhythm notifications. Life members also receive a SuperKnit Luxe band and a waterproof wireless charger.

Whoop is offering a one-month free trial of its previous Whoop 4.0 membership. After or before the trial ends, you can choose between the three new membership tiers and the corresponding devices. Existing members can also choose to upgrade from today.
