Introduction to WhatsApp on iPad

Meta has officially launched WhatsApp on iPad, as announced on Tuesday. This new iPad application enables users to engage in video and audio calls with up to 32 participants, share their screen, and utilize both the front and rear cameras. Previously, iPad users had to rely on the web version of WhatsApp through a browser to access the service.

Multitasking Features on iPad

According to the company, users will be able to leverage iPadOS multitasking features, including Stage Manager, Split View, and Slide Over. These features allow users to view multiple applications simultaneously, send messages while browsing the web, or research group trip options while on a call. In contrast, mobile users would have to switch away from WhatsApp to perform these tasks.

Compatibility and Syncing

The new iPad application is also compatible with the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil, as stated by WhatsApp.

This new application allows users to keep their personal messages, calls, and media in sync across their iPhone, Mac, and other devices, all while maintaining WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption for protection.

Launch and Availability

The launch of the dedicated iPad app was not entirely unexpected, given that Meta’s WhatsApp account on X (formerly Twitter) hinted at the news with a subtle! tweet yesterday available here.

It is worth noting that Instagram, another Meta application, is reportedly developing an iPad app as well, as seen in recent reports.

The dedicated iPad application is now available for download on the App Store.
