Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has experienced another delay. The game’s publisher, Paradox Interactive, announced today that the release date has been pushed back to October 2025, instead of the initially planned first half of this year. According to Paradox Interactive, “Ensuring great technical quality is more important than sticking to a specific date,” and the company, along with The Chinese Room, is committed to delivering the game.

The development of the sequel has proven to be a long and challenging process, even by the standards of an immortal undead. Paradox parted ways with the game’s original developer, Hardsuit Labs, in 2021. The Chinese Room, a studio known for its notable indie games Dear Esther and Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, joined the project as the new developer in 2023. Although today’s update provided some encouragement that the project is now in its “late development stage,” the decision has been made to discontinue the dev diaries, which offered a behind-the-scenes look at the game’s progress.

The original Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines game, released in 2004, also had a challenging development process. Developed by the now-defunct Troika Studios, the game was a story-driven experience inspired by a tabletop RPG, set in modern-day Los Angeles and focused on several vampire clans. Despite being a commercial flop at the time of its release, the game has since acquired a loyal audience and has even inspired a community of and fan-created content.
