This week, Uber announced its third collaboration with a Chinese autonomous vehicle company, demonstrating its ambition for global leadership in the emerging robotaxi sector.
On Tuesday, Uber revealed that it will be partnering with Guangzhou-based Pony AI, which debuted on the Nasdaq last year with a valuation of $5.25 billion, to introduce robotaxis on the Uber platform in a key Middle Eastern market by the end of this year.

The partnership with Pony AI follows Uber’s announcement of two other strategic deals with Chinese firms, Momenta and WeRide. Uber plans to collaborate with Momenta to launch robotaxis on its app in Europe by 2026 and with WeRide to expand into 15 cities across the Middle East and Europe over the next five years. Notably, Uber and WeRide have already launched a commercial robotaxi service in Abu Dhabi.
These agreements with Pony, Momenta, and WeRide contribute to Uber’s growing list of over 15 autonomous vehicle partnerships, which span ride-hail, delivery, and freight. While most of Uber’s partners, including Waymo and May Mobility, are based in the U.S., the company is also working with international partners like the U.K.’s Wayve.
