According to a report by The Verge, the General Services Administration, which oversees federal government-owned buildings, is set to decommission its entire network of electric vehicle charging stations.

The GSA allegedly manages a network consisting of hundreds of EV charging points, totaling 8,000 plugs, utilized by government-owned vehicles and those of federal employees. A source has revealed to The Verge that guidance will be issued to federal workers next week to shut down these charging stations, with certain regional offices already instructed to take their chargers offline.

Earlier this week, Colorado Public Radio obtained an internal email stating that the charging stations at the Denver Federal Center will be shut down, as they are deemed “not mission critical.”

On a broader scale, the administration of President Donald Trump has been taking an aggressive approach to reducing government agencies and scaling back federal support for renewable energy initiatives, including an electric vehicle charging infrastructure program that had previously allocated millions to Tesla.
