For years, the unsealing of Jeffrey Epstein’s records has been a highly anticipated event for many on the right, with the expectation that the files would contain a secret “client list” exposing widespread corruption and depravity among powerful Democrats and “deep state” figures. This perceived revelation was seen as a potent political weapon. Former right-wing media personality and current FBI Director Kash Patel expressed his views on the matter to Glenn Beck in 2023, stating that Trump should release the “black book” on his first day in office.

The long-awaited announcement by the Department of Justice and the FBI on July 7 was explosive, as their joint memo concluded that the files did not contain any mythical client list or new information that could lead to charges. The highly anticipated bombshell turned out to be a disappointment, and the fallout has been significant, creating deep divisions within the administration. According to multiple reports, a major rift has emerged between the leadership of the DOJ and the FBI regarding the handling of the case files.

The infighting escalated when conservative commentator and Deputy Director of the FBI Dan Bongino reportedly criticized Attorney General Pam Bondi’s handling of the review during a White House meeting. Reports from Fox News and other outlets suggest that Bongino distanced himself from the findings and is considering resigning in protest.

In a lengthy message on Truth Social, he attempted to shut down the controversy by framing the Epstein affair as a conspiracy orchestrated by his political enemies. Trump urged his allies to stop “playing right into their hands” and refocus on his own political grievances, stating that they should “not waste Time and Energy on Jeffrey Epstein, somebody that nobody cares about.” He concluded by expressing his support for Attorney General Pam Bondi, saying, “LET PAM BONDI DO HER JOB — SHE’S GREAT!”

However, where Trump saw a political inconvenience, Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and founder of SpaceX, saw a profound moral failure. In a direct reply on X, Musk disregarded Trump’s entire political narrative and instead focused on the core injustice of the scandal, amplifying the outrage that Trump sought to extinguish.
