The online dating landscape has taken a notable turn with the introduction of AI personas by major platforms like Tinder, allowing users to engage in flirting interactions.

In a recent announcement on Tuesday, the company revealed the launch of a new game, powered by OpenAI, which enables users to interact with an AI bot. This interaction involves practicing flirting, recreating meet-cute scenarios, and receiving scores along with suggestions to improve their dating skills.

To engage with Tinder’s The Game Game, users can access it by tapping the Tinder logo located in the top left corner of the app. The game presents users with a deck of cards, each featuring a unique AI persona and scenario. Users must utilize their voices to respond and attempt to successfully flirt their way into securing a date with the bot.

Following the interaction, users are evaluated on a three-point scale, which is represented by flame emojis. The AI provides instantaneous feedback throughout the experience, offering suggestions for improvement. For instance, if a user’s response is deemed rude, the AI will provide guidance on how to enhance the conversation.

According to the company, this new game is designed to provide a fun and lighthearted experience, not meant to be taken too seriously. It is currently available for U.S. users on iOS, but only for a limited time.

However, the trend of interacting with AI bots for flirting purposes is gaining popularity at an alarming rate. Tinder appears to be capitalizing on this trend as a strategy to attract more users, amidst its ongoing struggles with growth. There are already existing apps in this space, including Replika’s AI dating sim Blush, Teaser, and Rizz.

Tinder has also announced other AI-driven features, such as an AI-powered photo selector tool that was launched last year, along with upcoming features focused on discovery and matching.
