The highly anticipated teaser trailer for the upcoming horror film, Bring Her Back, has been released by A24 and the director duo behind the 2023 horror film Talk To Me, and it promises to deliver a similarly unsettling experience.

Similar to Talk To Me, Bring Her Back, directed by Danny Philippou and Michael Philippou, delves into the realm of occult horror. The story revolves around a brother and sister who uncover a terrifying ritual at their new foster mother’s secluded home. The minute-long trailer masterfully builds tension, with distant banging and moaning sounds interwoven throughout, as it offers glimpses of the film’s isolated atmosphere. Initially, the scenes appear innocuous, featuring a cat eating from its bowl, a camcorder zooming in on a girl with a mark under her eye, and a child looming outside a cabin. However, as the trailer progresses, the tone shifts, becoming increasingly unsettling.

The trailer’s climax is marked by a escalation of the banging and moaning sounds, giving way to full-throated whimpers and screams. This is accompanied by disturbing visuals, including a child convulsing on the ground, grainy footage of an emaciated woman, and a naked man approaching a woman standing in a ritualistic circle. Overall, Bring Her Back appears to be a horrific experience, leaving the audience wondering what exactly the film’s ritual is trying to conjure up. The teaser trailer can be viewed below.

Written by Danny Philippou and Bill Hinzman, Bring Her Back boasts a talented cast, including Billy Barratt, Sora Wong, Jonah Wren Phillips, Sally-Anne Upton, Stephen Phillips, Mischa Heywood, and Sally Hawkins, known for her role in The Shape of Water.

In our review of Talk To Me, we praised the film as an “almost perfect horror franchise starter,” noting that “when it’s good, scary, and violent, it’s very good, very scary, and very violent.” The YouTuber-turned-director duo’s sophomore effort, Bring Her Back, is expected to deliver a similarly intense experience, and hopefully, it will maintain its momentum throughout, unlike Talk To Me, which faltered in its third act.

Bring Her Back is set to hit theaters on May 30th.
