Substack publishers who prefer not to use their camera during livestreams now have a convenient option.
On Tuesday, Substack revealed the launch of an audio-only livestream feature, designed for publishers seeking a more relaxed way to engage with their audience, as well as those who prefer to maintain anonymity.
To utilize this feature, publishers simply need to click the camera icon to disable video when initiating a livestream, with the option to re-enable video at any point during the stream. It’s important to note that listeners can still comment and subscribe, just as they would in a standard livestream.
The rollout of this new feature is scheduled to commence next week.
This introduction of audio-only mode follows Substack’s decision to make livestreaming available to all publishers in January, a feature previously reserved for select creators with more than 100 paid subscribers.
