Introduction to Star Wars Nite at Disneyland Resort

This year, the Disneyland Resort hosted an expanded version of its popular Star Wars Nite event, a separately ticketed experience designed specifically for fans of the iconic franchise. The event, which took place on select nights between April 8 and May 6, allowed attendees to immerse themselves in a galaxy far, far away without the usual crowds. As someone who attended the limited event last spring, I can attest that the expanded schedule was a welcome change, making it easier for fans to enjoy the experience without feeling rushed.

A More Enjoyable Experience

Last year’s event felt overcrowded, with content creators and influencers flocking to get the first looks at character interactions and food. This made it challenging for regular park-goers, including myself, to fully participate. Despite having four hours to explore, it was difficult to try the Star Wars-themed food or meet characters without waiting in long lines. In contrast, this year’s event was a significant improvement, with shorter wait times and a more relaxed atmosphere.

Savoring the Flavors of the Galaxy

The event offered a variety of Star Wars-themed food items, including the delicious Fried Falumpaset cheese skewer, a Korean hot dog-inspired treat that I highly recommend. I also had the opportunity to try the Fried Chicken Baos, which were a great snack to hold me over until the event’s specialty items became available. The new honey chipotle-glazed Kalbi Ribs were a highlight, perfectly charred and tender, and served with a side of steamed broccoli, purple cabbage, and blue rice.

Warm and Cozy at Cafe Orleans

One of the surprises of the night was the Star Wars menu at Cafe Orleans, which offered a range of small bites and drinks. The sipping chocolate was a hidden gem, rich and warm, and came with sweet biscuits and a marshmallow. It was the perfect way to warm up on a chilly evening, and I wished it had been part of a Star Wars themed high tea. The Rebel Refresher, a boozy option, was also available for those looking for a little liquid courage.

Immersive Atmosphere and Entertainment

The atmosphere at this year’s event was much easier to enjoy, with DJ parties and live music adding to the excitement. The lines for Star Wars rides were shorter, making it worth the admission price. The event also featured costume parades, a "Gathering of the Resistance" with Rey, and a lightsaber how-to at the Fantasyland Theater. The only thing missing was the use of the theater next to Hyperspace Mountain, which could have been used for an Andor season two preview.

Meeting the Characters

One of the highlights of the night was meeting Queen Padmé Amidala, whose line was much better facilitated this time around. Unfortunately, Anakin was not available to meet, but the presence of the Skywalkers was still felt throughout the event. The 20th anniversary of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith was also celebrated, with Darth Maul and Sheev Palpatine making appearances.

Conclusion

The night ended with a beautiful re-telling of the Skywalker saga through projection lights and narration, which capped off the evening perfectly. While there weren’t many new attractions, the event was a great change of pace, allowing attendees to finally experience more of what’s been offered.
