The countdown has begun for the conclusion of Squid Game, Netflix’s record-shattering phenomenon—and, in all likelihood, for several of the characters that have been introduced throughout the series, particularly in the show’s most recent season. The highly anticipated third installment is set to premiere in June, resolving the cliffhangers that have been tormenting fans since December, while introducing new waves of danger as the desperate contestants navigate their way towards either claiming the grand prize or meeting a gruesome demise.

A teaser for season three was unveiled in May, but the first full trailer has now been released, and it is packed with suspense and chaos—exactly what Squid Game enthusiasts have come to expect.

As anticipated, Player 456, also known as Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), has been pulled back into the competition following his failed rebellion at the end of season two. It is reasonable to assume that his desire for vengeance remains unwavering, particularly after the tragic loss of his close friend, Player 390, in the season’s violent climax. Additionally, Squid Game‘s most complex and intriguing character, Player 001, also known as the Front Man or In-ho (Lee Byung-hun), will return, with his ruthless deception still unknown to his fellow competitors.

The third season will also continue the story of determined detective Jun-ho, who is the estranged brother of In-ho, as he attempts to track down the location of the Squid Game before it’s too late for Gi-hun and the other contestants.

The remaining contestants include Player 333 (the cryptocurrency enthusiast), Player 388 (the former Marine), Player 120 (the former special forces soldier hoping to win enough money for gender-affirming surgery), the mother-son duo of Player 149 and Player 007, Player 222 (the pregnant ex-partner of the cryptocurrency enthusiast), Player 125 (the timid contestant), and Player 124 (the former friend of the deceased Thanos). Additionally, there’s the enigmatic North Korean defector turned Squid Game guard, No-eul.

As the infamous poster for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre once ominously asked, “Who will survive, and what will be left of them?” The answer will be revealed when Squid Game season three premieres on Netflix on June 27.
