I must admit, I’m feeling a pang of jealousy as I report that Sony’s WH-1000XM5 headphones have dropped to a new all-time low price for Amazon’s Spring Sale. Indeed, our top pick for 2025’s best wireless headphones have seen a significant price reduction, from $400 to $250 โ€” a substantial 38 percent discount. This sale applies to the Black, Silver, and Smoky Pink models, while the Midnight Blue option is priced at $328.

There are very few tech products that I wholeheartedly recommend, but Sony’s M5 headphones are certainly one of them. I’ve been so impressed with them that my family members have also purchased pairs โ€” in fact, my partner uses mine almost as frequently as I do. One of the key reasons I appreciate these headphones is their exceptional comfort, which is particularly important for someone like me who is prone to headaches. I’ve worn them on multiple overnight flights, and I can easily keep them on for the entire duration without feeling any discomfort.

Talking about flights, the exceptional active noise cancellation is another reason why these headphones are perfect for long-haul flights. The M5s boast double the processors and microphones for ANC compared to their predecessor. I recall a particularly impressive experience where I slept two rows away from a crying baby, and with music playing, I couldn’t hear a thing. Additionally, the 30 hours of battery life provides me with peace of mind, knowing that I won’t have to worry about them running out of power mid-trip โ€” a common issue I’ve experienced with my AirPods.

Their outstanding performance on flights is just one of the reasons we awarded Sony’s M5 headphones a 95 in our review. They’re also ideal for listening to music while working or taking a walk. The M5s feature 30mm carbon fiber drivers and DSEE Extreme, which combine to enhance the sound quality and depth. My only minor complaint is that the M5s don’t fold up, but considering the price, they’re still an excellent purchase.
