Since the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 in 2022, I’ve been using the Oppo Find N5 as my primary device, and I must say, it’s been a great experience. The book-style foldable features an 8.12-inch inner screen and a 6.6-inch outer screen, making it a larger device than the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Google’s Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Despite its larger screen sizes, the Oppo Find N5’s relative thinness makes it a comfortable device to use, leaving us wondering if Oppo will bring similar designs to its US-based brand, OnePlus, which hasn’t seen a foldable update since 2023.
The Oppo Find N5 is not without its drawbacks, however. It starts at $2,500 Singapore dollars (approximately $1,880 USD) and can be cumbersome to use, especially for those with smaller hands. Nevertheless, the larger inside screen has made me realize that what I truly want is a folding tablet phone, rather than a device that tries to be a phone in my pocket. The Find N5 delivers on this, providing ample screen space for reading, browsing, and exploring niche subjects on the go. I’m now eager to embrace bigger, thinner folding devices, even if they come with a higher price tag.

I’ve enjoyed using it to read books and magazines, coordinate with friends on Discord, and scan through news headlines. The device’s widescreen format has won me over, making it feel like I can accomplish more with the larger screen size. In comparison to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6, which has a more phone-like design, the Oppo Find N5’s larger screen size and tablet-like experience have made it my preferred choice.

Although the Oppo Find N5 is not readily available in the US, its success and features are noteworthy, especially considering Oppo’s parent company, OnePlus, sells devices in the US. The Find N5’s slim design, large screens, and positive reviews make it an interesting device, even if it’s not perfect. Its camera, for instance, can be middling, and the device’s durability is a concern, with the case not covering the front part of the phone. Additionally, Oppo’s software update commitment is limited to four years, compared to Samsung and Google’s seven-year commitment.
