It has been announced that Bloody Disgusting and the distributor of Terrifier 3, Cineverse, have teamed up to revive the holiday slasher series Silent Night, Deadly Night, a project that was first revealed last year. The reboot has now secured its first major casting, with Rohan Campbell set to portray the role of Billy Chapman, the main antagonist from the original film.

Bloody Disgusting was the first to break the news, hinting that Campbell would be “punishing the naughty” in a “fresh take” on the 1984 classic. Campbell is best known for his role as Corey Cunningham in Halloween Ends, where he played a protégé of Michael Myers, as well as his appearances in The Monkey and the Hulu series Hardy Boys.

In the original Silent Night, Deadly Night, Billy, played by Robert Brian Wilson, experiences a psychotic break as a child after witnessing a man dressed as Santa kill his parents on Christmas Eve, leading him to take on a similar role as an adult. The character’s story continued in the second and third films, and he remains a divisive figure in the slasher and horror genres, with some considering him one of the best or creepiest villains, while others find him and the film to be deeply offensive.

Mike P. Nelson, director of Wrong Turn, is set to write and direct the reboot. According to Bloody Disgusting, more news about the project is expected to be released in the coming weeks, ahead of its premiere this holiday season.
