Shepherd, an IoT and endpoint security and management startup, has collaborated with Intel to integrate Intel’s Threat Detection Technology (Intel TDT) into its device and management portfolio, providing enhanced protection against ransomware threats.
Ransomware detection remains a top priority within the cybersecurity industry due to the severe consequences of previous ransomware attacks and the complexities of maintaining robust endpoint defenses, according to the Karnataka-based startup.
By integrating Intel TDT, Shepherd’s endpoint security software will offer superior protection against ransomware threats when used on Intel-based devices, said Anter Virk, CEO of Shepherd. Customers will benefit from the upgraded endpoint security solutions with ransomware detection capabilities that can defend against detection evasion tactics.
The startup is targeting to raise $8-10 million in Series A by the end of FY25-26, which will be utilized to hire talent and enhance its product portfolio, Virk said in an emailed response to ETTelecom. Currently present in India and the Middle East & Africa (MEA) region, Shepherd aims to expand into the US and European markets next year.
In the IT endpoints segment, Shepherd competes with mobile device management (MDM) products such as Ivanti and Airwatch, while in rugged devices, it competes with solutions such as SOTI and Hexnode.
“We are partnering with Shepherd to bolster cybersecurity for enterprise customers. Shepherd, enhanced with Intel Threat Detection Technology, will strengthen ransomware defenses when deployed on Intel Core Ultra AI PCs,” said Carla Rodriguez, VP and GM Intel Client Software Enabling.
The advantages of this integration will be available later this year with the upcoming release of Shepherd’s updated endpoint security and management products.
