What could be more intimidating than meeting your partner’s parents? According to the trailer for The Parenting, it’s being in a potentially haunted house with them.
Max has released the first trailer for its upcoming horror-comedy, directed by Craig Johnson. The film follows millennial couple Rohan (Nik Dodani) and Josh (Brandon Flynn) as they host a weekend getaway with their respective families at a rented country house. However, things take a turn when strange occurrences start happening around the house and among the family members. As the pairings try to make sense of the bizarre events, they realize that a demon is using Brian Cox’s body to terrorize them, and they must survive the rest of the weekend.
From the trailer, it’s clear that The Parenting has the potential to be an entertaining film. While it may not be as graphically gory as The Monkey or as psychologically complex as It’s What’s Inside, it boasts a talented cast and a few well-timed jokes. If you’re missing Brian Cox’s portrayal of a grumpy old man on Succession and want to see him reprise that role while also being nude and possessed, then this movie is for you.
In addition to Brian Cox, The Parenting features an ensemble cast, including Vivian Bang, Dean Norris, Edie Falco, Parker Posey, and Lisa Kudrow. The film is set to premiere on Max on Thursday, March 13.
