3. Navigating call menus with Direct My Call
Are you frustrated with navigating automated phone menus? Direct My Call simplifies this process by displaying menu options on your screen, allowing you to navigate with ease. No more listening to lengthy lists of options – just tap and proceed!
4. Letting Hold for Me listen to hold music for you
The Hold for Me feature waits on the line for you if you’re put on hold. When someone is ready to speak with you, Hold for Me will notify them of your return and inform you that they’re ready to talk.
5. Skipping the follow-up call or text with Call Notes
Call Notes eliminates the need to jot down important details from phone calls, such as dates, addresses, and follow-up tasks, by automatically creating summaries and full transcripts of your conversations. It highlights key points and allows you to review the entire call.
Call Notes, built using Gemini Nano, is designed to handle phone call conversations and knows what to include in the note. To use Call Notes, simply head to the Call Assist menu and enable it. During calls, you’ll see a button on your screen to activate Call Notes for that conversation. Enable Call Notes to streamline your call experience.
If you simply don’t want to talk, try…
6. Taking text-only calls with Live Caption
You can use Live Caption to “read” and respond to incoming calls, an incredible accessibility feature for those who are D/deaf, hard of hearing, or have partial hearing. Enable Live Caption in your Pixel’s accessibility settings, and you’ll have the option to use it for incoming calls. A text box and keyboard will appear, and you’ll see the caller’s words written out, allowing you to respond by typing.
7. Using Call Screen’s suggested replies to respond in real time
Call Screen helps you identify who’s calling and why. You can choose whether Call Screen works automatically or manually in your settings.
By default, Call Screen works manually – you tap “Screen call” when a call comes in. If the caller is in your contact list, you can use Call Screen to ask if the call is urgent. In both cases, you’ll see the call transcribed live on your screen, and you can use suggested replies to interact without picking up. With a Pixel 9 or Pixel 9 Pro, you can even enable AI-powered suggested replies for a wider range of responses generated in real-time based on the conversation.
If you choose to have Call Screen work automatically, it will answer suspicious calls for you, asking who’s calling and why. You’ll receive a silent notification, and you can tap on it to view the transcript as it’s generated. If the call is likely spam, Call Screen will end the call. For non-spam calls, you’ll receive a summary of what the caller said, allowing you to decide whether to take the call. If you don’t want to pick up, you can tap “Call me back,” and Call Screen will request the caller to try again later.
