Samsung is set to unveil its eighth-generation foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8, next year, which is expected to face competition from Apple’s inaugural foldable iPhone.

Samsung and Apple, two tech industry giants, have a long history of rivalry, constantly trying to outdo each other in terms of innovation, devices, hardware, and software.

As the current leader in the foldable market, Samsung is actively expanding its foldable product line with several devices in the pipeline for release this year, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy Z Flip FE, and the Galaxy G Fold trifold phone.

Until now, Samsung has only had to contend with Chinese competitors in the foldable market, but starting next year, it will also face competition from Apple, which is reportedly planning to launch its first foldable iPhone in 2026.

Following its tradition of releasing new-generation foldable smartphones annually, Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 in 2026. Meanwhile, according to GF Securities’ analyst Jepp Pu, Apple is preparing to introduce its first foldable iPhone next year, with mass production set to begin in the second half of 2026.

The analyst also reported that Apple’s first foldable iPhone is expected to be priced over $2,000, which will likely pose a significant challenge to Samsung’s forthcoming foldable devices.
