Samsung is revolutionizing the world of LED Cinema innovation with the unveiling of its latest Onyx Cinema LED screen at CinemaCon 2025, setting a new benchmark for the industry.
The South Korean technology giant has introduced its latest Onyx cinema LED screens at CinemaCon 2025, marking a significant upgrade from its 2017 model. The newly announced displays boast superior visuals, surpassing traditional projectors and LED panels with brighter, smoother, and more immersive images.
The Onyx cinema screens utilize modular LED panels, replacing traditional projectors, to deliver true blacks, infinite contrast, and highly accurate colors, comparable to OLED TVs but on a much larger scale. By focusing on innovation, the company highlights its importance in shaping the future of cinema.

The Onyx screen features 4K resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate, enhancing the viewing experience with sharper and smoother visuals. With HDR support, brightness is increased up to 300 nits, resulting in more vibrant colors and realistic highlights. Samsung offers four screen size options:
- 5 meters (16ft), 10 meters (33ft), 14 meters (46ft), and 20 meters (66ft).
According to David Phelps, display chief at Samsung America, “As the entertainment industry looks to the future of cinema, innovation is more crucial than ever.” The screens are compatible with high frame rate (HFR) content and support up to 120 frames per second (fps). Samsung will begin installing the new generation of Onyx screens in Fall 2025, starting with LVL 11 Entertainment in Mesa, Arizona.
