Samsung Electronics is exploring ways to integrate advanced battery technology into its wearables, with plans to utilize an all-solid-state battery. According to recent reports, the Galaxy Ring and TWS are also expected to join the lineup.
A report from a Korean news outlet, as shared by leaker Jukanlosreve on X, reveals that Samsung Electro-Mechanics intends to incorporate the all-solid-state battery, also known as the “dream battery,” into the Galaxy Ring for the first time by the 4th quarter of 2025. However, this endeavor is expected to be challenging.
Industry sources indicate that Samsung aims to apply all-solid-state battery prototypes to the Galaxy Ring by the 4th quarter of 2025, followed by true wireless earphones (TWS) in the 4th quarter of 2026, and finally to Galaxy smartwatches in the 4th quarter of 2027.
The all-solid-state batteries boast a unique design, using solid electrolytes instead of the liquid electrolytes found in lithium-ion batteries. This innovation reduces the risk of fire, offers high energy density, and provides greater shaping flexibility. Notably, Samsung Electronics announced its plans for all-solid-state batteries at CES 2025, with the goal of supplying prototypes and expanding their use in Galaxy products by 2027. The company appears to be driven to make significant advancements, solidifying its position as a leading smartphone brand in the industry.
