Samsung’s Secure Folder is a feature that allows users to securely store sensitive files, images, videos, and apps, keeping them hidden from others. However, a flaw has been discovered in the Secure Folder that compromises its original functionality.
According to a report by our colleague at Android Authority, Samsung’s reliable Secure Folder feature has a vulnerability that allows anyone to access hidden apps and photos within the feature.

Essentially, reports (via Reddit) indicate that when accessing photos or videos in the Secure Folder via the work profile, Android fails to block them, making them easily accessible to others. In contrast, accessing Secure Folder items using the personal profile remains inaccessible, even if the Folder feature is unlocked.
However, after replicating the process in One UI 7, it was found that only photos and videos stored in the Secure Folder are at risk of being exposed outside the Secure Folder. The Android system file picker efficiently blocks file access, even if the file picker is accessible via the work profile.
Furthermore, to prevent photos and videos from being accessed outside the Secure Folder, users can encrypt the Folder by tapping the menu inside the folder and selecting the Encrypt option. Hopefully, Samsung will soon acknowledge the issue and provide a relevant fix.
