Following its debut last month, the Galaxy S25 series has already set a new record for pre-orders, surpassing its predecessor and signaling a promising start. The series has brought about a significant shift in the tech industry, offering a fresh wave of innovative features.

Interestingly, users of the Galaxy S25 have noticed an improvement in the face unlock mechanism, as reported by our colleagues at Android Authority. According to them, the face unlock feature now works more efficiently, even in low-light conditions or at wider angles, providing a more seamless unlocking experience.

A Galaxy S25 Ultra user took to X to share their experience, stating that the face unlock feature has become more reliable and efficient. They noted that it can now unlock the device even in less-than-ideal lighting conditions, which was not the case with previous models.

Notably, the Galaxy S25 series features a 12MP selfie camera that lacks a dot projector, flood illuminator, or IR camera, which are typically used to create a 3D depth map of a user’s face. This raises questions about the security of the face unlock mechanism, particularly in low-light environments.

Despite these observations, Samsung has not officially confirmed any upgrades to the face unlock feature. The company has highlighted various other improvements and new features in the Galaxy S25 series, but the enhanced face unlock capability remains unmentioned.
