Samsung has submitted a patent application for its upcoming foldable phones, which will have the ability to fold both inward and outward, potentially taking the foldable market to new heights.

The South Korean technology giant is actively working to dominate the foldable market by introducing innovative products. Currently, the company is preparing to launch its seventh-generation foldable phones, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, at the Galaxy Unpacked event in the second half of this year. In addition to these two devices, the Galaxy Z Flip FE and Galaxy G Fold (tri-foldable) are also in the pipeline to debut this year.

Meanwhile, a recent report from Atlyginimo Skaiciuokle, in collaboration with David from @xleaks7, revealed that Samsung has filed a patent for an ultrathin display that can fold completely around, rotating up to 360 degrees.

Currently, foldable smartphones only fold inward, which protects the screen but limits visibility, and can only bend up to 180 degrees. The newly discovered patent suggests that future foldable devices could fold both inward and outward, allowing them to rotate a full 360 degrees.

However, Samsung has not made any official statement regarding this patent. The 360-degree foldable design is currently under patent, leaving questions about whether the company plans to use it for commercial purposes.
