Samsung log video is the latest video format from Samsung, offering Galaxy users a high-quality recording experience on their devices. This feature is exclusively available with the Galaxy S25 series devices under the Camera application.
Samsung Log Video Features
The Samsung log video option provides an option to record video in the log format, which offers more dynamic range. This means the sensor records luminance or both very dark and very bright areas. Recording in log format brings several advantages, including:
- Cost efficiency: It records in your device without using any high-end equipment.
- Time efficiency: It does not need any special effort to get simple results.
- Flexibility in post-production: It improves options for controlling colors, shadows, highlights, color tones, and other image data.
How to Record and Use Color Correction in Samsung Log
Samsung has introduced the log video recording in the pro video mode by default. However, you can also use it in video mode as well. To do that, you just need to go to the camera settings, navigate to the advanced video options, and tap on the log filming. Once activated, it will show up in the video mode in the top right corner (in the portrait orientation).
The log video records more accurate color correction at the same time on the recording. When you use the log video, you can check the exposure. There are two options available: the zebra pattern and false color.
- Zebra pattern: In this option, the display area where the exposure is greater than the preset values.
- False color: It marks all areas in different colors based on the grade of exposure, such as red for overexposure, light green for correct exposure, and purple for underexposure.
With these features, you can easily help you to set the appropriate exposure settings, and this option can be turned off or on before or during the recording.
Color Correction while Editing on a Mobile Device
The log format videos can be edited in the Gallery application, where you can convert them to standard color profiles using the edit suggestion. Apart from this, you can also adjust brightness, contrast, and color values individually and also apply different filters.
The Samsung log video is supported in all the camera resolutions, including 8K30, 8K24, UHD120, UHD60, UHD30, and UHD24. It denotes that the feature could expand to more devices in the coming days.
