Samsung has been spotted working on a new mid-range smartphone, dubbed the Galaxy A17 4G, which has surfaced online via a listing on Geekbench.

The South Korean tech giant is set to introduce the Galaxy A17 as the successor to the Galaxy A16 smartphone. It’s clear that the company is actively expanding its mid-range Galaxy A series, having already launched several devices this year, including the Galaxy A56 and Galaxy A36, as well as the Galaxy A26.

According to reports, Samsung is now preparing to launch another device in the same series: the Galaxy A17 4G. The smartphone has been spotted on Geekbench with the model number SM-A175F.

As per the listing, the Galaxy A17 will be powered by the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset. Notably, this is a two-year-old, 6nm-based chipset that features two 2GHz Cortex-A76 cores and six 2GHz Cortex-A55 cores, paired with a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. The device’s single-core score is 730, while its multi-core score is 1982.

An interesting point to note is that Samsung tested the Galaxy A17 4G on Android 15-based One UI 7, despite the fact that its next major OS update, Android 16-based One UI 8, is expected to debut in July with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 foldable phones. This suggests that the Galaxy A17 may be launched by the end of the first half of this year.

However, Samsung has not yet released any official information about the existence of the Galaxy A17 4G smartphone, so it remains to be seen how long the company will take to launch the device.
