Samsung is making rapid progress in developing its upcoming major OS, One UI 8, which will be based on Android 16. Following the Galaxy S25 Edge, it appears that Samsung is now testing the latest One UI version on the Galaxy Z Fold 5, in addition to the Galaxy S22.

Previously, reports indicated that the Galaxy S25 Edge was spotted running Android 16-based One UI 8 on test servers. This has now been followed by more Galaxy devices, including the Z Fold 5 and S22+, suggesting that the company has begun internal development of One UI 8 for these models.

According to details shared by Alfaturk via X, Samsung’s Galaxy S22+ units have surfaced on the Geekbench database, running One UI 8 (Android 16). This indicates that Samsung has started testing One UI 8 for the S22 models. The Geekbench results appear impressive, with the S22+ units being US-based, as indicated by the model number SM-S906U.

In addition, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 models have been spotted running One UI 8, with the build number SM-F946U, indicating a US-based model. This suggests that the development of One UI 8 is already underway.

Although Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series is currently testing One UI 8 Beta in select regions, the Galaxy S22 lineup is not eligible for the beta program. However, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will receive One UI 8 Beta once Samsung expands the beta phase to more eligible Galaxy devices.
