Samsung continues to hold the top position in terms of innovative products, whether it’s their smartphones or their cutting-edge smart home appliances. Following the previous announcement, Samsung is now planning to integrate advertisements into its smart refrigerators, starting next month.
As previously announced, Samsung will be rolling out a new software update for the Family Hub refrigerators in the US as part of a Pilot Program, which will also bring ads to its fridges.
According to a recent report from The Verge, as cited by Android Police, Samsung is releasing a fresh update exclusively for its smart fridges with displays measuring 21 inches or larger.
For now, the Pilot Program that introduces ads on smart refrigerators is limited to specific fridges that are part of Samsung’s Family Hub models sold in the US.
The software update for Samsung Family Hub refrigerators also includes a more unified user experience across connected screens, smarter food tracking with AI Vision that can identify 37 fresh food items and suggest labeling for up to 50 packaged food items, personalized Intelligence for all users, a new Widget Pilot for Cover Screen themes, and Advanced Security that silently integrates Samsung’s powerful Knox security chain.

However, many users may not appreciate this change, but there is some good news: Samsung will offer the option to turn off ads when users prefer to skip them.

At the same time, Samsung may not have made the safest decision, as the smart refrigerators are already expensive, and at this point, customers might opt for more affordable non-connected models instead of one from the Family Hub.
