The countdown to Hollywood’s biggest self-congratulatory event is underway, and that means it’s time for the Razzie Awards to take a few swings at 2024’s most notable misfires, disappointments, and box-office flops. Following the genre-heavy nominations announced last month, it’s no surprise to see Joker: Folie à Deux taking home some prizes. However, the top spot – and the most awards, with three trophies – went to a film that io9 has defended on multiple occasions: the Spider-Man-adjacent Madame Web.

The 2024 Razzie Awards crowned Madame Web as the Worst Picture, with additional “awards” going to lead actress Dakota Johnson and its screenplay, penned by Matt Sazama & Burk Sharples and Claire Parker & S.J. Clarkson. Joker: Folie à Deux received recognition for the on-screen duo of Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, as well as the “Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off, or Sequel” category.

The Razzies also honored Jerry Seinfeld and Amy Schumer with awards for Actor and Supporting Actress, respectively, for their work in Unfrosted. Jon Voight received a multi-part Supporting Actor nod for his appearances in Megalopolis, Reagan, Shadow Land, and Strangers.

Francis Ford Coppola, director of Megalopolis, took his Razzie recognition in stride, responding on social media that he views the honor as a “distinctive recognition … at a time when so few have the courage to challenge contemporary moviemaking trends! In a world where art is judged like professional wrestling, I chose to defy the industry’s gutless rules, which may not yield pictures that will remain relevant 50 years from now.”

It remains to be seen whether Madame Web will still be relevant 50 years from now. However, if it continues on its current path toward cult-classic status, anything is possible. The Razzies also present a “redeemer” award for past winners who have since redeemed themselves – this year’s recipient was Pamela Anderson for The Last Showgirl, nearly 30 years after being recognized for 1997’s Barb Wire.
