The Pixel 9 Pro stands out as our top Android recommendation in the guide to the best smartphones, earning a score of 94 in our review last year. This model incorporates nearly all the key features we’ve come to appreciate from the Pixel series, including exceptional cameras, an attractive design, and a relatively clean version of Android guaranteed to receive updates until 2031. The device boasts a 6.3-inch OLED display that is suitably vivid and supports a fast 120Hz refresh rate. Additionally, its Tensor G4 chip and 16GB of RAM ensure smooth operation without overheating. While the battery life is sufficient for a full day, we find the 27W charging speed to be somewhat lacking. Furthermore, Google’s array of AI features remains inconsistent in its performance.

This $200 discount equals the largest cash reduction we’ve seen for the unlocked 128GB model. Google has announced that this offer will be available until February 22. You can also find this deal at the Google Store, Target, and Best Buy. It’s also worth noting that trading in an older phone at Google and Best Buy can result in additional savings, though the exact amount depends on the device.

If a more budget-friendly Pixel is what you’re after, the older Pixel 8 is available for $399 at Amazon and Best Buy. Although it lacks the battery life, design refinement, and processing efficiency of the Pixel 9 Pro, it still offers excellent cameras, useful software, and a quality OLED display. When compared to the newer Pixel 8a, the Pixel 8 is the better choice when both are priced the same, offering faster charging speeds (27W vs. 18W) and a more premium feel. However, it’s worth noting that Google is rumored to announce a new Pixel 9a in the coming weeks, so it might be wise to wait if an immediate purchase isn’t necessary.
