The latest addition to the S25 family, the Galaxy S25 Edge, has been unveiled by Samsung. Following its introduction via a livestream, many fans are likely considering purchasing this new device as soon as it becomes available globally. If you’re among them, it’s essential to be aware of its impressive software update policy.

Samsung boasts the most comprehensive software update policy among Android partners. The company offers a minimum of 2 major OS updates and 4 years of security updates, with a maximum of 7 years of support, demonstrating significant progress in its Galaxy smartphone lineup.

The policy was officially enhanced with the launch of the Galaxy S21 series, which introduced 4 major OS updates and 5 years of security update support for flagships. Furthermore, Samsung’s long-term update policy for Galaxy smartphones, starting with the S24 series, promises an impressive 7 years of software support, a commitment that continues to extend to newer devices each year.

Galaxy S25 Edge Promised OS Updates Up to Android 22 and One UI 14

Samsung reaffirms its dedication to long-term software support with the Galaxy S25 Edge, mirroring the update policy of its Galaxy S25 siblings. The device is guaranteed to receive 7 major Android OS upgrades, a pledge initially introduced with the Galaxy S24 lineup in 2024. This extended support now applies to multiple flagship categories, including the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and the limited-edition Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition.

Shipping with Android 15 and One UI 7.0 preinstalled, the Galaxy S25 Edge is poised to receive updates through Android 22 and One UI 14, assuming Samsung and Google maintain their current version-naming practices. In addition to OS upgrades, the company promises 7 years of security patches, with monthly updates expected for the initial 4 years, followed by potential quarterly releases for the remaining duration, setting a rare industry standard for post-purchase protection.

As a result, the Galaxy S25 Edge becomes a more reliable and efficient device for years to come, free from worries. The latest smartphone has also arrived with interesting features, and interested users can now look for the Pre-order program, which will run from May 13th to May 29th. The pre-order window is now open and will close on May 29.
