Stargate, a monumental $500 billion undertaking led by OpenAI, Oracle, and SoftBank, aims to establish AI data centers and other AI infrastructure in the United States. According to a recent report by the Financial Times, the project is now exploring potential investments in the United Kingdom and other international locations.

Initially, Stargate was conceived to bolster AI infrastructure within the United States. However, the project is reportedly considering expansion into global markets, with the United Kingdom, Germany, and France being potential targets, as per the Financial Times’ findings.

It is essential to note that Stargate’s primary focus remains on the U.S. market, aligning with its initial objectives. The project is currently in the process of securing its initial $100 billion in funding. SoftBank is anticipated to contribute tens of billions of dollars through a combination of debt and equity financing.

Upon Stargate’s announcement in January, former President Donald Trump expressed his support for the initiative, describing it as a “declaration of confidence in America.”
