Samsung is set to initiate the rollout of the stable Android 15 update to its older Galaxy devices starting April 7. In the meantime, the Galaxy S25, which has been spotted running One UI 8 on GeekBench, has already commenced development on Android 16.
Recently, Samsung officially announced the Android 15-based One UI 7 release timeline for various markets, with the rollout scheduled to begin on April 7. On the other hand, Google has already launched the Android 16 beta program and has released three beta updates thus far.
Google’s Android 16 has now reached the platform stability stage, and with a scheduled launch date of June 2025, Samsung may align its release timeline by launching One UI 8 accordingly.
A tipster, Tarun Vats, shared a post on X, revealing that the Galaxy S25 was spotted running One UI 8 based on Android 16 on GeekBench, with the dedicated build version BYC5. According to the listing, the device’s single-core scored 3135, while the multi-core scored 9938.

This development suggests that Samsung has started working on the latest Android OS version and is on track to meet its release schedule. Currently, the company is poised to release the stable Android 15 update to its older Galaxy devices on April 7 in Korea, with a subsequent rollout in more countries to follow.
Since there is no official announcement regarding the release of One UI 8, it remains to be seen whether Samsung will adhere to its timeline or take more time, similar to the current One UI 7 version.
