Samsung Rolls Out New Update for Camera Assistant App with One UI 7.0 Support

Samsung has recently started rolling out a new update for the Camera Assistant app, which brings support for One UI 7.0. This update is good news for Galaxy fans, especially those with the Galaxy S25 series, as it allows for automatic video saving to external storage.

Enhanced Camera Assistant App Functionality

The Good Lock Camera Assistant app provides users with more impressive tweaks to the device’s main camera app, resulting in an enhanced and immersive experience when capturing photos or videos.

Galaxy S25 Series Can Enable HDR10+ via Camera Assistant App

In the Camera Assistant settings, users can enable or disable HDR10+ video recording, as long as HDR is turned on in the advanced video options of the standard camera app. HDR10+ enhances the colors and contrast of videos recorded in both Video and Pro Video modes using the Galaxy S25’s stock camera app. While the Galaxy S24 records videos in 8-bit SDR by default, the Galaxy S25 series supports 10-bit HDR video capture.

Storing Videos Directly on External Storage

Samsung’s new flagship smartphones also offer support for storing videos directly on an external storage. With the latest version of the Camera Assistant app, users can automatically save videos to external storage, thanks to the new feature. This feature is compatible with Video, Pro Video, Portrait Video, Slow Motion, and Hyperlapse modes in the standard camera app.

Availability and Compatibility

However, the feature is currently only available for the Galaxy S25 series and the upcoming Galaxy A56. The videos will get saved to external storage when the device is connected to the phone’s USB-C port. Alternatively, this newest option is compatible with video, pro video, portrait video, slow motion, and time-lapse modes, respectively.

Future Expansion

Apart from this, it’s already been reported earlier that the Camera Assistant app is being prepared for One UI 7 that will bring the support for saving videos automatically to the external storage. Now, alongside the latest update, Samsung has already started providing the feature, and it’s expected to reach more older Galaxy phones in the future, other than the S25 series.
