Just in time to add some chill to the winter season, Peacock is set to premiere Nosferatu on Friday, February 21.
Robert Eggers’ highly acclaimed remake will be available on the streaming platform in two versions: the original theatrical cut, showcasing its dark, erotic, and gothic elements, and an extended cut featuring additional scenes, which can be found on other platforms and DVD/Blu-Ray releases. To complement the film, Peacock will also offer a behind-the-scenes documentary, providing insight from the star-studded cast, Eggers, and other key individuals involved in the production. With Nosferatu garnering several Academy Award nominations, including Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, and Best Makeup/Hairstyling, now is an excellent time to revisit the film.
Nosferatu proved to be a significant box office success during the last Christmas season, earning $176.5 million and becoming Eggers’ highest-grossing film, as well as Focus Features’ second-highest domestic release and fourth-highest worldwide. While the film was still in theaters, Focus announced plans to collaborate with Eggers on a new gothic horror project, Werwulf, a werewolf-themed movie set in the 13th century. Although details are scarce, Eggers aims to release Werwulf by Christmas Day 2026. Following his work on Nosferatu, there is considerable interest in Eggers’ future projects, including Werwulf and the upcoming Labyrinth sequel.
