Samsung is exploring a more innovative approach for its wearables by incorporating all-solid-state batteries into its next-generation watches. Meanwhile, several reports have emerged suggesting that the launch of the Galaxy Watch 8 series is already in the pipeline. This raises the question of whether the company might skip the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 for this year.

Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 May Not Arrive This Year – Here’s Why

Historically, Samsung has followed a pattern for its Galaxy smartwatch launches, starting with the Galaxy Watch 4 series (based on Wear OS), where every alternate year, the company switches between Pro and Classic models.

However, this pattern seems to have changed with the introduction of the Ultra model alongside the Galaxy Watch 7, suggesting that the launch of the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 may have been shifted to next year.

Initially, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 series consisted of base and Classic models. The Watch 5 arrived with base and Pro models, and the Watch 6 adopted the same 4th-gen smartwatch pattern, coming with standard and Classic models. The Classic models are notable for their stunning rotating bezel around the display and exceptional durability.

However, Samsung skipped the Classic or Pro variant for the current Galaxy Watch 7, replacing it with the Ultra model to emphasize its focus on innovation, such as making it more durable and adventurous for wearable fans. It appears that the company is looking to expand its Galaxy Watch Ultra lineup with the Watch Ultra 2, but not this year.

Furthermore, the Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic have already appeared online, with the Watch 8 Classic surfacing on the GSMA database with a new model number. This suggests that there may not be a Watch Ultra 2 this year, and its launch could be pushed to 2026.
