Nintendo Directs have been scarce, but it seems that when they do arrive, they come in pairs. Just days before the company is set to reveal comprehensive details about the Switch 2 in a dedicated showcase on April 2, a surprise Direct has been announced for March 27 at 10 AM ET, which can be viewed above.

This upcoming stream is expected to last approximately 30 minutes, focusing predominantly on forthcoming games for the Switch. Although there won’t be any revelations about the Switch 2, the majority of the games showcased will be compatible with the new console due to backwards compatibility.

Given that this Direct isn’t specifically categorized as an Indie World Direct, which typically highlights indie games, the exact content of this event remains somewhat ambiguous. At this stage, Nintendo’s development focus is likely on creating games for the Switch 2. Nonetheless, considering the Switch has an enormous user base, with over 150 million consoles sold, it’s unlikely that Nintendo will neglect this vast audience in the near future.

Consequently, a steady stream of games for the original Switch is anticipated to continue for the foreseeable future. For example, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is still scheduled to release on the Switch this year. Additionally, third-party games, including a notable title from Team Cherry, are expected to be released on the Switch, though specific details are yet to be announced.
