What are your thoughts on how generative AI will redefine the foundational structures of business and economic productivity in the coming decade?

In my opinion, generative AI will revolutionize the entire economy. This moment is reminiscent of the dawn of the Internet era, around 1993, when we were first preparing for its impact. However, we failed to grasp the profound effects it would have on business and the global economy. Now, we are witnessing something even more significant. Generative AI can be seen as a new combustion engine, but for all forms of human creative and intelligent activity. It will impact every industry and facet of productivity, and we’re already seeing the emergence of new use cases.

The Intersection of AI, Politics, and Society

How do you see AI and data evolving as forces shaping society, and redefining the political agenda and global power dynamics?

Reflecting on the profound capacity of AI to reshape society, it becomes clear that this AI revolution will emerge as one of the most important political questions of our generation. The information revolution, driven by the Internet, smartphones, and cloud computing, has already become a defining geopolitical force over the past 30 years. Now, with the AI revolution and the data that fuels it, the impact will be seismic. AI won’t just influence politics; it will become the fabric of politics itself.

The Future of Immersive Tech and the Metaverse

What are your thoughts on the evolution of the Metaverse and immersive tech, and the role AI will play in architecting this next frontier of digital interaction?

The Metaverse represents a vision for the future of the Internet, where digital experiences become more immersive, intuitive, and experiential. Artificial intelligence is the key enabler that will allow us to build and scale these immersive digital environments. Although the Metaverse is still an untested concept, it’s clear that AI will be the engine generating and populating the content within these spaces.

Ensuring Ethical and Responsible AI Deployment

What ethical imperatives must policymakers and society address to ensure equitable and responsible deployment of AI and big data?

The conversation around ethics, AI, and big data will become intensely political and highly consequential. This technology has the potential to reshape the economy, redefine the labor market, and alter the structure of society itself. Ensuring that this technology is applied in a fair, safe, and responsible manner will be one of the defining political challenges of our time.

Integrating AI into Business Strategy

What mindset shifts are essential for business leaders to meaningfully integrate AI into their long-term strategy and operations?

For businesses to digitally transform, especially in the era of AI, it’s critical to understand the conceptual paradigm shift we are currently undergoing. Once this understanding is in place, it becomes easier to explore and adopt AI technologies effectively. Companies must investigate how generative AI can be thoughtfully integrated into their business models, identifying priority areas where AI can deliver long-term value.

A Visionary’s Perspective

As one of the earliest voices to articulate the societal implications of generative AI, what sparked your interest in exploring this space before it entered the mainstream conversation?

My interest in AI stems from analyzing macro trends that shape society, geopolitics, and the wider world. I saw AI as more than just a technological shift; it’s a story about humanity. Generative AI, as an exponential technology built and directed by humans, will transform not just the way we work but the way we live, challenging our understanding of what it means to be human.
