Tamagotchi Fans Rejoice: Tamagotchi Plaza Brings Back Classic Gameplay

The recent Nintendo Direct livestream brought some exciting news for Tamagotchi enthusiasts: the Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop game series from the early 2000s is being revived with a new installment, Tamagotchi Plaza. However, it appears that the announcement trailer missed the most significant aspect of the game. As discovered by Tama-Palace, Bandai Namco’s official website reveals that Tamagotchi Plaza will be compatible with the Tamagotchi Uni. This means players can link their Uni devices to the game to access exclusive perks, similar to the classic TamaTown feature.

Tamagotchi Plaza is set to release on June 27. In the game, players will take on the role of shopkeepers, helping to prepare the town for the grand Tamagotchi festival. Some shops will offer local two-player options, adding a social element to the game. Regarding the connection with Tamagotchi Uni, Bandai states:

Tamagotchi Plaza features a linkage function with the Tamagotchi Uni. For the first time, players can connect with the latest toy model, the Tamagotchi Uni. By linking the Tamagotchi Uni, they will gain access to exclusive items, special events, and unique conversations not available in the base game, while supplies last.

Given that the Tamagotchi Uni is approaching its two-year anniversary, any new content that refreshes the experience is welcome. For those who have neglected their Uni device, Tamagotchi Plaza seems like a compelling reason to revisit it. Even without a Uni device, the game has its own charm, offering a cozy experience that will appeal to franchise fans’ nostalgia.
