A long-awaited answer may have finally arrived regarding whether Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan) is aware that Clark Kent (David Corenswet) is indeed the iconic superhero clad in red trunks, courtesy of a recent teaser released by DC Studios for the upcoming film Superman.

Past interpretations of Superman’s love interest have often fallen prey to the simplistic ruse of glasses as a disguise, a notion that has always been somewhat implausible. However, it appears that director James Gunn has opted to sidestep this convention in his forthcoming DC Studios film, Superman.

In a clip featured below, Lane forthrightly states, “Eventually, people are going to discover that you’re Superman.” It is satisfying to see the Daily Planet’s lead reporter utilizing her investigative skills to uncover the truth about Metropolis’ caped hero, who also happens to be her boyfriend.

Although earlier trailers hinted at Lane’s knowledge, this recent teaser serves as confirmation. What remains to be seen is the timeline of this discovery and whether she is the sole individual not deceived by the flimsy disguise. In response to her statement, Kent says, “Yeah, but the glasses,” with an air of confidence that is more akin to “Kal-El, god among us” than “farm boy turned big city journalist.”

Lex Luthor is also on the trail, attempting to dehumanize the hero by portraying him as an alien threat and specifically targeting his identity as a man, glasses notwithstanding. It is uncertain whether Clark Kent being revealed as Superman will be treated as a mundane fact in this universe, where he is far from the only superhero.

Superman is scheduled to hit theaters on July 11.
