As of 2015, the Star Wars franchise has consistently received major video game releases from prominent triple-A developers on a fairly regular basis. The majority of these titles have been published by EA, which is now set to unveil its next project for PC and consoles.

A panel at Star Wars Celebration, scheduled for Saturday, April 19, promises to reveal the debut game from developer Bit Reactor, produced by Respawn Entertainment. This project was initially teased in 2022, with the only known detail being its turn-based tactics gameplay. Bit Reactor comprises developers from Firaxis, the studio behind the turn-based games XCOM and Marvel’s Midnight Suns, indicating a strong pedigree. This will also mark the franchise’s first significant foray into the tactics/strategy genre since 2006’s Empire at War, making it even more intriguing.

However, it’s worth noting that this appears to be the only game that will be featured at Star Wars Celebration, as there are no other titles listed on the schedule. For those who may have lost track, several major titles are in development, including Respawn’s third Jedi game, which is still in the works, and its first-person action game, which was canceled in 2024. Quantic Dream confirmed it is still working on Star Wars Eclipse despite recent NetEase shakeups, and Saber Interactive is continuing to develop the remake of Knights of the Old Republic it inherited from Aspyr. As a result, Bit Reactor’s game may be the primary Star Wars title for 2025 or 2026.

The reveal panel for Bit Reactor’s game will take place from 4:30-5:30 pm at Star Wars Celebration on Saturday, April 19, and will be part of our event coverage.
