Typing on a digital keyboard using a controller can be a frustrating experience, especially when it comes to streaming or gaming. The slow process of finding each letter can be painful. However, there’s a solution on the horizon for Xbox controllers, as Microsoft announces a new gamepad keyboard for Windows 11’s touch keyboard.

The updated keyboard is designed to make it easier to use the on-screen keyboard with an Xbox controller, featuring improved navigation and helpful shortcuts. For instance, the X button can be used as backspace, the Y button as the spacebar, and the menu button as enter. Additionally, Microsoft has vertically aligned the keyboard keys for a smoother user experience.

Microsoft initially announced that it was beta testing this technology back in September. The feature is now available in the Release Preview version of Windows 11, allowing users to try it out within the next few weeks. Hopefully, this update will save users a significant amount of time and frustration, and streamers will come up with their own solutions soon.
