A Minecraft Movie has reportedly broken the domestic box office record set by 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie for the largest opening weekend of a video game adaptation. With its release in theaters on Friday, the new movie garnered $157 million in the US, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Additionally, A Minecraft Movie is performing well globally, earning a total of $301 million in its debut, according to THR. In comparison, The Super Mario Bros. Movie earned $146 million domestically and $377 million globally in its opening weekend.

The film features an ensemble cast, including Jack Black, Sebastian Hansen, Emma Myers, Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks, and Jennifer Coolidge.
